The man is Robert Sturgeon.

More than a decade ago, farmer Bob Sturgeon watched many of his friends lose their land as the Iowa farm crisis deepened. His family had bought their land at the right time, and could sell at a profit. Coupling his entrepreneurial spirit to his strong sense of determination, he decided on a change. He and his brother sold the family farm; Bob took his share of the profits and started a trucking business.
By assembling a workforce that shares his Midwestern work ethic, Sturgeon and his employees have created a fast-growing national firm known for its safety record, solid customer service and highly visible state-of-the-art equipment. Barr-Nunn started in 1982 with about a dozen tractors and no trailers. By the end of 2000 it will have 655 tractors, over 1900 trailers, and nearly 100 owner/operators hauling its loads. Along the way, Barr-Nunn has found the solution to a major industry problem - driver retention.
In 15 short years, Sturgeon has developed what some could only hope to have - a successful company known in the industry and its community as a top-notch, quality organization. The dream has become a reality.
Compensation
* Solo Drivers
* Pay Scale: (With verifiable over-the-road experience)
* 5+ years experience - 35 cents per mile.
* 4 years experience - 34 cents per mile.
* 3 years experience - 33 cents per mile.
* 2 years experience - 32 cents per mile.
* 1 year experience - 32 cents per mile.
* 6 months experience - 28 cents per mile
* $.005 per mile increase each year.
(Note: Mileage rate pays book miles, loaded and empty)
* Team Pay
* 1/2 of your solo rate + 1.5 cents per driver, Track 1.
* 1/2 of your solo rate + 2.5 cents per driver, Track 2.
* Bonus
* 1 cent per mile On-Time Delivery Bonus!
* $150 sign-on bonus
* $15-$25 for each additional drop or pickup.
* Additional pay for hand load/unloading.
* Paid weekly -- either direct deposit or Comcheck.
* Cash advances available.
* 1.5-day Orientation - Travel, motel, meals, physical, and drug screen all paid
* 1 cent per mile On-Time-Delivery Bonus.
* $100 Extra pay to go into New York City (No forced dispatch into NYC)
